DYNAMIC SEARCH BAR
No matter how great our content is, it's useless if you can't find it. That's why the search bar is big and prominent on every page. And, it's designed to deliver the content you want when you want it. Here's how:
1) Our search function finds items based on their title, description, and tags.
Tagging is a really flexible way to ensure that everyone can find your content.
For instance, we added a "Halloween" tag to The Sketchup Show #37: SketchUp Got Styles because Mike changes costumes throughout the tutorial. If you type "Halloween" into the search bar, you'll find this video and spend a few minutes laughing while you learn.
2) The page you search from matters
Our search engine considers the page you're searching from when it compiles the results. So, if you're looking for a particular type of content, search from a relevant page.
For instance, if you are looking for videos about the Circle tool, you should first click on the "Videos" link (top of the homepage, below the School logo) and then use the search bar on that page. The results will only include video content. If you search from a page and don't find the result you are looking for, you can click on "Search the entire site" to broaden your search to all matches on our website
3) A search from the homepage will search the whole site
As you can imagine, searching from the home page will produce a range of results. You'll find Forums posts, Members, Videos, Blog articles and Training products and services. This type of search presents a fantastic overview of the type of content you'll find on our site. However, if you're overwhelmed by a long list of results, see item #2 above on how to narrow your search.
BREADCRUMB NAVIGATION
Our "breadcrumb" navigation helps you find your way back to the content you like. To do this, it automatically creates a list of links to pages you've visited on our site. This expandable list appears just above the search bar, and is useful for narrowing down search results.
For example, when you type "Circle Tool" into the search bar, you might click on the first result and find yourself watching an episode of The Sketchup Show about the Circle Tool. If this isn't the video you want, but you want to see other Sketchup Shows, you can click on "Sketchup Show" in the the breadcrumb navigation to get to a page with only Sketchup Show video content.
FEEDBACK
Go-2-School.com also has built-in channels for feedback. In addition to our forums, every video features a comment section below it and a rating system in its upper right corner. Your comments are instrumental in helping us decide things like what lessons to cover next, or what formats are most effective for each lesson.
Thanks to everyone who has left comments, forum posts, or rated one of our videos. As a community, the more we interact, the more we stand to learn from each other!
