Mike demonstrates how to create seamless tileable textures using just Photoshop. In episode #40, Mike used a Photoshop plugin called imageSynth to create similar textures of organic materials. However, in this episode, Mike explains how its probably better to use Photoshop alone when it comes to more rigid textures such as wood and tile.

The wood Mike is using comes from Eco-Timber, a company that obtains its wood products from environmentally sound sources. He picked out this particular swatch of wood on a recent trip to the Greenbuild conference in Chicago, Il. The tile is from Heath Ceramics, a company whose products come straight from their factory in Sausalito, CA. Mike took a photo of the tile while touring the Wired LivingHome in Los Angeles, CA.

We should also note that in both episodes #40 and #41, Mike is using a real project that he has been designing for a client in California. If you couldn't already tell, sustainability is the number 1 priority for this home - we're definitely proud of the way it's shaping up!
