Great to see you at Google SketchUp Basecamp!

We wanted to say a big "Thank You" to all of the folks we met at Google SketchUp Basecamp last week in Mountain View, CA. It means so much to us when one of the SketchUp community seeks us out to let us know what they think of our podcast videos or how they've used our DVDs to help them with a project. Alex talked about meeting an interior designer who said we were able to help her get through her thesis project and another architect who said she had all of our podcasts memorized! Mike said that one landscape designer in particular said his 10-year old daughter saw him watching the infamous Styles episode of the Sketchup Show and wondered out loud if her dad was really "working" like he said he was.

New Sketchup Show

The very first time that you opened SketchUp, if you were anything like me, you probably started with the Pencil Tool. It was so easy to click and draw edge after edge. Your time together was innocent and fun. Pencil was as trusty as its namesake - always sharpened and ready to roll.

Learn how to create tileable textures for SketchUp

We've just released the latest episode of The Sketchup Show, episode #41. In it, Mike demonstrates how to create seamless tileable textures using just Photoshop. In episode #40, Mike used a Photoshop plugin called imageSynth to create similar textures of organic materials. However, in this episode, Mike explains how its probably better to use Photoshop alone when it comes to more rigid textures such as wood and tile.

Thousands of people attended, each there to learn about the practices and technologies behind sustainable design and build. While we were there, we were fortunate enough to get time to sit down with the up and coming architect Michelle Kaufmann and find out more about how she's using SketchUp in her firm to help visualize their modular "green" homes. So take a few minutes to watch Episode #39 of The Sketchup Show.
